While the site will attempt to accommodate as many individual pages and contributions as possible, the decision concerning what will be displayed is that of the site administrator. It is expected that the email discussion groups maintained by rootsweb.com for the area in question will be asked for input on the difficult questions.
In comparison to the other sites which have been reviewed as containing text extracts, we believe that the pages which DSData has completed to date are presented in a substantially more reader-friendly form. Decide for yourself and let us know.
DSData wishes to include as many texts related to the individuals and history of the areas which we cover. Texts printed prior to 1940 will be considered for inclusion. However, the transcription or scanning of such tects is a labour intensive exercise and we will acknowledge any assistance that is received in this area.
If you have a text which you believe is a good candidate for inclusion in the site, or are willing to assist in providing already transcribed or scanned copies of appropriate text, please email comments or suggestions to the site administrator.
We believe that the present effort by others to transcribe census data is a beneficial
and necessary task. However, we think that the current presentation is not
the form which is required to present a useful and user-friendly research tool.
Additionally, we believe that the census information should be cross-linked
on an individual basis to other reference data.
This is an area which will be under development as time permits.
In other words, drop back every couple of weeks and see what we have completed.
We believe that our presentation of individual data is equal to or superior
to any that we have seen on the web. And we invite others to submit
appropriate information for inclusion.

The site is presently designed to permit access to information on specific
individuals and family groups. We acknowledge that we can be criticised on the
selection of the people who were
initially included in the database. They were clearly a personal, rather
than regional, set of data. The only comment that will be made is -
You have to start somewhere.
We will - as time permits - add other persons to the set of data which is
available for display. The following criteria for inclusion will be observed.
Most likely, if there is a question of inclusion or not, the person/family
will be included.
It is anticipated that information submitted in GEDCOM format will be able to
be added most easily. Contributors must supply an email address which can be
included as a source contact. Normal mail and telephone contact information is
desired but will not be displayed without permission of the submitter.
Photographs of individuals or families can be included where available by
submitting "jpg" format graphics files and should be between 8,000 and 20,000
bytes in size (up to approximately 250 by 250 pixels).
If multiple graphics files are to be submitted they must be labeled corresponding
to the individual identification numbers contained in the
accompanying GEDCOM file or by the reference number used by the site.
Please contact the site administrator before submitting data for inclusion.
Where copies of tax rolls, cemetary listings, or extracts of newspaper birth,
death or marriage announcements become available, they will be included in our
text data section.
